If your interview recordings or transcripts live in Google Drive, you can import them into a CoLoop project directly. There is no need to download files to your computer and upload them again. Connect your Google account once, then pick files from your Drive inside CoLoop and import them in bulk.
The Google Drive integration is being rolled out gradually and may not be visible in your account yet. Contact support to request access.

Connect your Google account

You connect Google Drive once and the connection works in all your projects. Each person connects their own Google account. No admin setup is required.
  1. Inside a project, click Import Files and select Google Drive.
  2. Click Connect Google Drive.
  3. Sign in to Google and approve the request.
The Import Files window on the Google Drive view with the Connect Google Drive button highlighted Google then returns you to CoLoop, ready to import.
CoLoop asks only for permission to see your email address and to open the files you pick. It cannot browse the rest of your Drive, and it never changes or deletes anything in your Google account.

Import files

  1. Click Import Files and select Google Drive.
  2. Click Choose from Google Drive. Google’s file picker opens.
  3. Select the files you want, then click Select. You can pick from My Drive, shared drives, and files shared with you. Hold Shift or Cmd/Ctrl to select several files at once.

  1. Review the list. Each file shows its type and size. Files CoLoop cannot import are marked as skipped with the reason. Remove any file with the × button, or click Add more to pick again.
  2. Click Import.
The review list showing two files ready to import, with the Add more and Import buttons highlighted CoLoop confirms the import started and closes the window. Files download from Google Drive in the background and appear in your project as they arrive. Recordings start transcribing automatically. Useful to know:
  • You can import audio and video recordings, .docx and .txt transcripts, and Google Docs. Google Docs are converted to Word format as they import.
  • Folders cannot be imported yet. Open the folder in the picker and select the files inside it instead.
  • Other Google file types such as Sheets and Slides cannot be imported.
  • You can import up to 1,000 files at a time.
  • Importing the same Drive file into the same project again does not create a duplicate. CoLoop keeps the copy it already has.
  • See Video & Audio for the supported recording formats.

Manage your connection

Your Google account appears at the top right of the import window. Click it to:
  • Reconnect: sign in to Google and approve the connection again.
  • Disconnect: remove CoLoop’s access to your Google account. Files you have already imported stay in your projects; they are copies stored in CoLoop.
If Google revokes the connection, for example after you change your password or remove CoLoop from your Google account settings, CoLoop shows “Your Google Drive connection can no longer be refreshed” and asks you to reconnect. Click Connect Google Drive and sign in again to continue.

Troubleshooting

  • You don’t see the Google Drive option in Import Files. The integration isn’t enabled for your account yet. Contact support to request access.
  • A file is marked “CoLoop can’t access this file”. The file was moved, deleted, or its sharing changed after you picked it. Pick it again from the picker.
  • A file is marked “Not an audio, video, or transcript file”. CoLoop imports recordings, .docx and .txt transcripts, and Google Docs. Other file types are skipped.
  • “Couldn’t load your Google Drive connection.” This is usually temporary. Click Try again.
  • The picker doesn’t open. Check that your browser isn’t blocking third-party scripts from Google, then try again.
