# Chat

> This document will walk you through how to use the AI Chat in CoLoop to explore, analyse, and make sense of your data.

Use **Chats** to explore granular questions, uncover outliers, and pull meaningful quotes.

* Ask things like:
  * *"Compare concerns between male and female participants"*
  * *"Give quotes from female voters who had negative experiences"*
* Scope your question by file or segment to refine results.
* Chats work by **sampling your data** and showing the most **relevant answers** based on the meaning of your question.
* Click any quote to trace it back to the transcript and export clips.

### Understanding How the Chat Works

The AI Chat looks at **all your data**, but when answering a question, it only shows the **most relevant evidence** based on how your question is phrased. So if it seems like it’s only citing a few participants, don’t worry—it’s reviewed everything, but selected what best fits your query.

If you want a broader or different perspective, try **rephrasing your question**. The way you ask can shape the kind of response you get.
